I was so excited when I was asked to be part of this special day. Of course, as always, the year flew by and before we knew it the day was upon us. I felt so at ease and comfortable with this family – and it helped that I knew a great deal of guests too! The groomsmen had me laughing the entire time, as only some groomsmen can do! There was even a “saying of the day” which for the guys, seemed to apply to everything. Then it was off to see Amber just before she left for the ceremony. When I walked up to Amber’s mother’s house and saw her for the first time, she literally took my breath away. I couldn’t imagine how Nick, the love of her life and her soon to be husband would feel when he saw her! Such a beautiful group of ladies, and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree that’s for sure! There is a reason why the Canadian Club Hiram Walkers is such a coveted place for a wedding ceremony, it’s just so beautiful! And we couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. Shooting weddings (or attending them) is always such a wonderful excitement, seeing the final product from many months, sometimes years of planning, is something I look forward to each time. I love seeing the diversity between brides and the choices the bride & groom make for their special day. I love seeing the beauty play out that was their vision. And Amber & Nick’s wedding was no different. The reception hall was almost as stunning as the bride! Another favourite part of mine is listening to speeches. Honestly, for me, they could run on forever and I wouldn’t get bored. I love seeing the reaction of the bride and groom, and hearing some wonderful sentiments (and of course, funny recollections from the wedding party as well of their friendships!)
I am so excited for Amber, Nick and Wyatt and this next path their are on. Congratulations to your beautiful family!!!! xoxo
Recently I met a wonderful family, in fact, a gorgeous family. With mama’s due date quickly approaching they wanted to have some family photos captured before the newest addition arrived. And it also happened to be their wedding anniversary- so what a better way to remember this exciting time, family, new baby on the way and the celebration of love.
Big brother was unbelievably adorable. He had just attended his first day of JK that day, so he was understandably tired and at first wasn’t too interested in having photos done. We let him have some quiet time while I captured his beautiful parents and pretty soon he was wanting to be in the photos. It also didn’t hurt that we “found” a little wild bunny hopping down the trail that we named “One Direction”. (If you look close, you can see “One Direction” in some of the photos!). Now “One Direction” stayed for almost the entire shoot and of course, he had asked us to have big brother be really quiet and smile a lot for his photos so he wasn’t scared away. And Mr L did just that! He was so cute! And as we neared the end of our shoot he really started to turn on the super adorable charm. It is obvious that this little boy is a genuine sweetheart, without prompting he began hugging and kissing “his’ baby….melt my heart!!!
I wish this family the best of luck with their new little one and their crazy-gorgeous family!
About a month ago I was driving down Walker Road towards Harrow and I drove by this fantastic field just filled with these gorgeous purple flowers. I instantly thought to myself “I must take at least 1 photo in this field”. My dear cousin Cheryl is expecting her 3rd baby and so I contacted her as soon as I got home that day and asked if she would be willing to do a mini maternity session and willing to take a little trek through the field. She said yes and we made a date! There was a driveway which I thought we could park in and get to this beautiful meadow but when we arrived, we were greeted with 2 foot trenches made by 4 wheelers that were completely filled with water and no way to get through, around or past them. I was bummed. So I said “want to take a hike?” and she said she was game. We parked on the side of the road and she asked “there are no snakes here right?” to which I replied “nah, don’t worry” and we crossed through the ditch and into the field. I pioneered the way to make a path (the trees, bushes and flowers were waist high) We found a lovely spot and we began shooting.
In a perfect world, I would have loved for the day to be overcast and not so bright and sunny, but alas, I cannot control the weather! (who knew!). I will say I have never seen bees SO BIG as the ones in this field! We finished our shoot and made our way back to the car. I again led the way, this time at least I had some sort of path to follow. It was during this trek back that I noticed there were praying mantis’ EVERYWHERE! All varying shades of green and brown. We finally made our through the field, through the ditch and I was just about to step onto the gravel when what should I see beside my foot? A snake! Now I have no issues with snakes, but I calmly directed my dear cousin to the right. At first, she was compliant and continued on the way but then said “why did you tell me to go there??? Oh my was there a snake!!!!?!??!?!” I tried to hide it, but in the end she knew the reason. At least I was the one who led the way so she didn’t see it!! 🙂
It was an adventure and we both had a great time and in the end, I came home with some beautiful photos and a lasting memory for both my cousin and I. (and a funny story to tell little sweet pea one day when he’s older!)
Brayden’s mom and dad contacted me a few months before their little new man was set to make his arrival. Last August was a busy month for newborns, and this year followed suit! I’d like to say that Brayden’s now blessed with a wonderful birthdate and shares that day with some pretty awesome people, including myself! 🙂 When his parents arrived, I was not expecting the shocking load of hair this little man had! I think my 2 1/2 year old has just slightly more hair. Along with his amazing hair, he had the most adorable cheeks. I seriously could squish them all day long!.
Whenever I am preparing for a newborn session I always have an ‘idea’ of how things will go that day and sometimes it plays out that way and sometimes it doesn’t. And this is cool! I expect to go with the flow and these sweet little newborns are absolutely my boss!
And my sweet little Brayden was certainly my boss for the day- he was so good. He was such a snuggly sweetheart who had his own agenda as to which set ups he wanted to do and even put himself into some wonderful poses! (it was like he knew what to do with his adorable hands!) Speaking of hands, this little guy had hands down (haha) the cutest hands ever!!! I think I took a dozen photos of his chubby hands. I even said to the parents he had such “boy hands” already and I could see his chubby little boy fingers full of dirt playing in the yard building a fort. I frequently get these little “flashes” of the “future” when I see babies (even when I was pregnant of my own children before we knew they were girls) and it always makes me smile. I really enjoyed meeting his awesome parents and wish them all the best with their beautiful family!!
Almost a year ago I was contacted by a woman who was friends with one of my clients and had seen my work. She had just had her second child and was inquiring about a shoot. She wanted to book a family shoot and a 1st birthday session for her newest little sweet pea (yes, she certainly was on the ball with booking!). Her second request was if we could do all of the shooting in one day as they would be travelling in from out of town to see me!
Next thing I know, the year has gone by and it is time to meet this sweet family. Initially when they booked, I had assumed they were originally from Windsor or had family here. It wasn’t until we met that I was told they did not, they had come to Windsor solely for me to photograph their family! The grandparents even drove from another city to be part of it too! Wow, I felt a little emotional after learning that- it was truly an incredible feeling. These two parents (and grandparents) were so wonderful and sweet and kind. And the children! Oh, the children, they stole my heart. Big brother was just too cute for words and the birthday girl had the most adorable dimple ever! I was a little worried that 2 shoots for these 2 little ones would be too much for them, especially little Miss M, but I was wrong. They were amazing and happy and smiley (and silly) for the whole thing! After the family shots, we went back to the studio for Miss M’s 1st Birthday Cake Smash and Clean Up shoot. I laughed the entire time! And when I started going through the photos to edit, I was laughing again. Miss M had the greatest expressions and reactions! To say that I was honoured that a family with two small children would make a trip down the 401 to see me is an understatement. They are truly a beautiful family and I am so happy I had the pleasure of meeting them and capturing these moments for them.

Recently I got to photograph a little beauty for her half birthday. I have different reasons for loving each age, and I do truly enjoy each different age, but something about 1/2 birthdays I just fall for every time. Six months is the beginning of the “fun stuff”- they are so social and smiley and happy about life. They generally don’t make strange and are just giggles for anything- especially a dad doing the “big bad monster”! And of course Little Miss S fell beautifully into this 1/2 birthday age of wonder. I think if I could have, I would have spent most of the session time kissing her cheeks and cuddling her. Little Miss is not only super adorable but super lucky to be the daughter of some super awesome parents. They a truly wonderful and sweet and just so in love with their little beauty. I loved watching them interact with her and I can see just how much they love each other and their family bond. Although I really love all the photos from this session, some of my favourite are the unposed, unexpected, “secret” photos taken during moments of quiet and cuddles.
I have been fortunate enough to watch these two parents grow up as individual teenagers, come together as a young couple, fall in love, grow as individuals and as a couple, find their careers, say I Do and now expand their family. The memories are some of my favourite and I can say very little that will truly express how happy I am to be part of this memory and new life path for this family. In respecting the family wishes, I am only posting a couple photos (which kills me because I love them all, it’s so hard to choose!)
I love you guys and I look forward to many more photos!!!
Another Princess!!! And this Princess was accompanied by two handsome princes who clearly and dearly loved her. This young family was so obviously loving. Even when the 2 princes were having their “silly fighting time” it was over who loved who and who could hug who!!! They were so sweet when handling their new little princess and were eager to give her kisses.
After the princes head off for a bit with the King, our little princess and her beautiful Queen enjoyed some sweet time and finished our photo shoot. Sometimes I don’t know how I do it. How do I let go of these sweet, precious little babies and send them home? There are moments that I feel like I will keep shooting forever if their parents don’t take them and start getting them ready to go home! I also don’t know how people don’t just spend the entire time snuggling and kissing these sweet little cheeks! (But I usually do a good job at refraining) 🙂
I was anxiously and *patiently* awaiting for little Miss E to make her arrival in to this grand world since her parents contacted me months ago to schedule her session. And then when they chose to have a maternity session done, well that just put my excitement over the edge. I was also looking forward to having another princess in the studio!
She was tiny, but mighty! I lovingly nicknamed her “Little Piglet” during her session as she ate and ate!! But she was so tiny! I dont’ get to snuggle too many babies that are less than 6lbs and I welcomed these snuggles!
