My parents have always loved children, which is a good thing considering in June they welcomed their 8th grandchild and in July their 9th! (and they’ve got 3 children)
My “baby” sister has 2 sons, who are almost 8 years old and 4 1/2 years old. They are BOYS. Like energizing bunny, love to do crazy things boys. Last year her and her fiance were planning their wedding. They decided February 2014. A few months into planning they got a lovely little surprise in the form of another bun in the oven. They continued on their plans knowing that my sister would be about 6 1/2 months pregnant at the wedding (but for those that don’t know, my sister is teeny, tiny and gets the most adorable bumps- no one ever believes she already has children, and she fits back into her teeny, tiny sizes within weeks- yes, so irritating to her big sister! haha)
They had decided they “were not going to tell anyone” the sex of this baby. I will say it drove our mother CRAZY not knowing. She would ask or say things to see if she could get my sister to slip up- but it was to no avail.
In February their beautiful wedding took place (and as I suspected, in many of her photos she doesn’t even look pregnant!) She was a beautiful bride. The ceremony & photos went off great and reception was gearing up. And then it was speech time. I took my place as Maid of honour and said my speech and then it was soon turn for the new Mr. & Mrs.
They had wonderful things to say but the breath catcher came when they said “and now that we have all of our friends and family and loved ones in one place, we have a secret we wanted to share……” pause. Pause. Pause. I was holding my breath and hoping they weren’t pulling our chains. Pause. Pause. (I swear it felt like forever) and then it was loud and clear “We are having….A GIRL”. The whole place erupted. Although I am fairly certain I may have been the craziest one out there. I have 2 girls, my sister had 2 boys and she was finally going to have a little girl. Wooo wee was I excited!
The big day came (oh yes, I also had the EXTREME joy of photographing my little niece making her way earth side as I was in the delivery room with her- those photos will follow eventually!). I couldn’t have been more thrilled to be capturing these moments.
At just 2 days old, my sweet Liliana came to my house for her first (of what we can assume are many) photoshoot. The “weird” thing for me is that she looks exactly (EXACTLY) like her oldest brother when he was little; so every time I look at her I think I am looking at my nephew but in a dress! 🙂
During the session I joked that it was lucky she was my niece as she managed to poop and pee on every. single. item. And on my sister. And my mom. And myself. She certainly, certainly made me work for it.
Then 17 days later while visiting, I thought, what the heck, she is sleeping so well, I just need to take a few more shots. So I did 🙂 Her cheeks are absolutely squishable, kissable, plump packages of goodness!
