I first met this beautiful couple a few years back when I photographed their maternity session for their first, then multiple times from newborn through Miss H’s life so of course, I was pumped when they contacted me and told me they were expecting again! And this time….a little brother! 🙂
Miss H was sleepy and not feeling her best and probably would have been happiest if she could have slept the entire time, inspite of being a toddler and not up to her normal seld, she was so good!
One of my BFF’s since grade school is expecting and we’re due only a few weeks apart! She has been living in Toronto for many years, so sadly for us we get to experience it together via emails, texts and social media but it’s still so exciting! She and her family were here for a visit and we had to squeeze in a maternity session before I stopped shooting. We went out to Thiessens Apple Orchard (bummer there wasn’t many apples left!) but it was beautiful. Of course, it helps when I have such a stunner as a friend to shoot!!!!! I love her so much! (and her husband and sweet daughter). I can’t wait to see if Miss S is going to have a baby brother or sister.
This beautiful mama to be and I went to highschool together *a few years ago* and seeing her again made me realize that some people don’t change. She is still a vibrant, funny, excitable, can’t-keep-still kinda girl! And I love, love, loved shooting her! Knowing from personal experience with my previous pregnancies, not every woman embraces the changes during pregnancy. It can be difficult to see such major body changes and truly love them. Christina is not one of those women. She is a love-everything-about-her-belly woman. Listening to her, she adores her belly, the bigger the better! She feels beautiful and sexy (and she should; look at her!). We had a great time shooting. I do have to admit, I was slightly jealous, I am a few weeks behind her in my own pregnancy but I could not move as fast as her! I swear she did a handspring back to her feet after I had her laying on her back- I could barely get up from sitting! Haha. Of course, I cannot forget about dad. He is very excited to meet his little man and clearly in love with this beautiful mama!
And although I could not accept shooting her newborn as it is too far into my own pregnancy to complete it, I can’t wait to hear of his arrival. Any day now!
A couple months ago I had the pleasure of meeting this adorable family and photograph their excitement as they awaited another sweet boy to add to their family. Little Mr L was too cute! He was all giggles and just loved his mama so much. Watching these three interact with each other was just so sweet- and allowed me to capture some very cute moments. I am excited to meet their little guy, he’s one of my last newborns booked before I begin my own maternity leave!
These two beauties are my reason for everything I do. They, along with their little sister we are waiting to meet, are our world. They bring us laughter and joy. Tears and frustration. Happiness. Love.
I’m very excited for their little one to arrive, seeing as she is due on my birthday! I loved doing this session; they were so much fun! Mama had a number of adorable ideas for our in studio shots (I decided to continue to keep those private) and we had some awesome laughs during this session. Not only are these two super sweet, but look at them! This baby is going to be a triple threat! I seriously love watching new expectant parents interact with each other, and the love that is growing with each kick and move!
These two were some of the sweetest parents to be! For those who know me, I almost never go anywhere without a flower in my hair so I just loved that mom had one too! Her sweet little bump was just too cute for words, hardly able to believe she was only a couple weeks away from giving birth! Watching them smile at each other was so sweet; like they were in their own world, completely in love and unaware of anyone else but each other. Dads smile every time he looked at this beautiful mama melted my heart. Imagine my surprise that the little guy came a little early. I volunteered to bring their disc to them (and lucky me got a little peak at the handsome little guy while I did!)
I first met Tess when one of my best friends married her cousin. She was and is, one of the sweetest women I’ve ever met. Her entire family, including her husband, is so talented it’s unbelievable. (If by chance her face looks familiar, her mother is an amazing artist and has used her as inspiration; a painting of Tess can be seen on the side of a building while driving down Wyandotte near Walker road- in fact, many art pieces in the area are that of her mothers!). I was very happy to hear these two were expecting a bundle of their own! We met at Tess’ nonna’s house and took photos throughout the house and yard. I really love the kitchen! (Seriously, I want it in my house!)
I have no doubt these two are going to be the most loving, caring, wonderful parents and look forward to hearing the news of little Baby J’s arrival.
I love when people love snowy photos! And I love when parents to be choose to do maternity sessions. I know as well as anyone, that being pregnant doesn’t always equate to self-thought beauty in the mind of the mama to be. I’m not speaking directly for this mama, but in general I see this. There are so many changes that we go through, some more challenging than others. And I often hear “I don’t want to do maternity because I don’t like how I look”. But I also know how fast this goes by, how quick this moment goes and then it’s gone. And once it’s gone, it can’t be brought back. And although it my sound odd, my usual response is “I would rather you did the photos and wished you didn’t over not doing them, and wished you did”.
So when I get a request for maternity, it makes me happy. And I get to capture beauty like this. Excitement. Wonder. Love. And there is something about watching a dad to be and how he looks at the mama. The wonder and love and pure attraction is just beautiful. And I hope that every mama I photograph sees this look in their eyes and recognizes it. It’s a beautiful thing.
I cannot wait to photograph this little peanut! Only a couple more weeks to go!!
I will never forget the first time I met Papa to be- it was about 9 years ago and he was just too cute! He was a friend of one of my best friends – he was sweet and hilarious and his blond curls were just too adorable. I knew that whatever lady snatched him up would be one lucky girl. One of my first memories of Mama to Be was just 7 years ago as she was one of my nurses taking care of my sweet newborn baby girl on the Labour and Delivery Floor at the hospital. I even have a photo of her listening to her heart! She was so wonderful and sweet. What a small world! When these two came together I couldn’t have been happier. They were (and are) a perfect match of beauty, sweetness and laughter. I feel lucky to have been part of some of the biggest moments in their lives, I was still doing my cake business at the time of their wedding and was able to make their wedding cake (and of course attend their nuptials!) and now here we are and I get to photograph the next “big step”!
I had a blast with these two- it’s never a dull moment with Papa! I had to include an “outtake” photo that he was being silly in- it’s just “them”. They brought along a couple ideas they wanted to do as well- always fun to hear what others want to do too!
Funny thing is I actually got a newborn headband more than a year ago with these two in mind, even thought they were still newlyweds and I dont think babies were on their mind at all! So when they announced they were expecting I crossed my fingers and hoped for a girl so I could use this headband….and lucky me my wishes were answered! A sweet baby girl for this adorable couple! I hope she has hair just like daddy! (and I’m pretty sure mama does too).
I’m now patiently (and anxiously) waiting for her to make her way earthside….it could be anytime now!
